Welcome to the Alternative Teacher Professional Pay System (ATPPS)

Minneapolis Public Schools and the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers (MFT) have collaborated over 8 years to develop and implement programs for alternative compensation that reward teachers for continuous improvement. This effort has resulted in the creation of the Alternative Teacher Professional Pay System (ATPPS). In June of 2006, a district wide vote by teachers determined we will move forward in 2006-2007 with ATPPS.

Education research clearly and repeatedly shows the single most important school-related factor for student success is demonstrated quality teaching in the classroom. To support, retain, and reward teachers, the MFT and the district will invest in opportunities for teachers to help them reach maximum effectiveness for student results, to earn higher salaries, and to advance professionally.

Update

As a part of the redesign of the Human Resources & Accountability division the responsiblities of the  ATPPS department now fall under two of the newly created departments: Organizational & Professional Development  and Total Compensation.  Please visit the department websites for more information.
